Circle of Life ...

Hello Friends ,

Of all the shapes in Geometry I Love CIRCLE the most !!

It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life
 - From the movie " The Lion King "

I chose the color Baby Pink and Cream . They are soft color and very soothing to eyes.
It gives a very elegant look , very girl like ..

I have used an old CD as base and top reference.. To build up the box , 216 tight coils have been used . I alternated between 2 layers of Baby pink and 2 Layers of Cream colored quilling strips ..
The Top lid , which is an Old CD again , has been covered with " PaperMania "  PP set . The edges again has been set with 38 Tight coils of Baby cream color .. Decorated with my ever favorite Malaysian flower, few leaves and twirls and half pearls :)

Materials used :
Quilling Strips - from Itsy Bitsy
Half Pearls - from A1 craft and supplies
Old CDs from my Stash
Quilling tool

Hope you all liked it :)
Happy Quilling  !!
Hugs
Remya

Time Traveler Edition - Altered Bottle

Hello Friends ,

Yes !! I have been bitten by The Bottle bug . I seem to be stuck with altering bottles like crazy :)

I call it the Time traveler :) This Bottle will remind me of the Monsoon drive we had recently .
Time flies by .. Memories remain
What I loved the most in this is the Crackled Texture which has come up in on the Bottle ... And Blue is MY Favourite colour ..!!!

The process is very simple .. First apply Gesso on the bottle . Once it is dry  I applied Acrylic Colour - Prussian Blue . The entire thing was dried the natural way . I kept it for a day or two ( since its  raining) ..
Next thing was my favourite , Tim holtz distress crackle paint .. Once it was dry the crackle effect was awesome .. I added a dash of Magenta color by spraying it using an old brush .

I loved the texture so much that I  didn't feel like decorating it at all ... Wanted to leave it as it is :)

It took me a day to decide upon the idea of Time traveler effect on the bottle and  am glad I did it :)

I cut out Clocks from the Gentlemen's Collection PP , stuck the clocks on the bottle and distressed the cut edges with Faded jeans DI ..
Added a  Blue Lace and  beads around the Bottom of the bottle ! The Neck of the bottle has rhinestones string and Pearls  !! I loved it ...

Hope you loved it too ..
Happy Crafting !!

A Tag !!

Hello Friends ,

This one is for my dear little son .. His Summer vacation was fun , he remembers it a lot. Beaches, gardening , digging with his baby spade .. and many more . He used to be back home with grass stains on knees and sand between toe... :)
I started with a white card stock.. Layered it with patterned paper from "Papermaniac". Distressed it with aged mahogany.. Stamped clocks on the sides ..Stenciled the Hexagon shapes using artist stencil from Prima with textured paste.. Now for the fun part :) I love Tim Holtz works !! Who doesnt right :) .. Took spiced marmalde and crushed olive Distress stain on to the worksheet , sprinkled some water over it , ran the white cardstock over it. Once dried by heat setting it , distressed the sides using Vintage photo DI.. Stamped with Text stamps from BoBunny  using Memento Tuxedo black.. The Green crakled effect was again from Tim Holtz technique . White Cardstock Distressed using Peeled paint ,Pine needle and broken china .. Crackled it using clear rock candy distress crackle .. Phew .. A one day work for me with my son around... :)

Once I layered these card peices , I went about embellishing .. I used his things  :) The tape (again distressed with aged mahagony), Burlap strings, the black Tyre is from his army tanker and the jigsaw puzzle pieces (distressed used Vintage Photo ). To get the sand part , I applied Versa Watermark randomly around Tyre , burlap strings, and jigsaw puzzle.. I used the Distress Embossing Powder for the First time...Poured Distress Embossing Powder (Vintage Photo) over it , taped out the extra and heat set it ..I got the sandy, weathered look !! This will be seen in the many more projects to come ..

Made a tag by stamping " Noteworthy" on a piece of cardstock, distressed with Vintage photo.. Stuck a few buttons.. . and its ready  :)

It brings a big smile on his face :) It makes my day !! I loved it

Hope it brought a smile on your face too !!
